Daddy Date Night

About a year ago, my son took his daughter to a Daddy Date Night hosted by her school. These are the thoughts that came to me as I thought about their evening together.

A chance for me

To show my daughter

How it should be

To demonstrate

love, respect, and care

While good times and laughter

are everywhere

Her eyes shine with joy

She's happy to be

Treated like a princess

One night by me

I see in her eyes

How they sparkle with fun

I'll look for that

When she chooses the one

To be by her side

Forever and a day

This time is fleeting

I hear my heart say

Enjoy the night

Enjoy the fun

Enjoy the time

You are her special one
